FLSA - Exempt
Reports to: Superintendent/Building Principal
Terms of Employment: 225 days, starting July 1 - June 30 (based on individual calendar)
Supervisory Responsibilities: Building teacher and support staff
Qualifications:
. Masters Degree
. Valid South Dakota Principal Certification (Pk-8 or K-8)
. Minimum of four years teaching experience at the elementary level and previous administrative experience preferred
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the best educational practices and effective school research. Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets and data entry.
Essential Duties & Respnsibilties:
. Responsible to assist in the administration of assigned building(s)/facilities
. Assists in managing all monies handled in the school and helps overseeing the building budget, including the requsition of
needed supplies and materials in compliance with state requirements policies and regulations of the board.
. Promotes and supervises an effective instruc tional program which is consistent witht he district curriculum guidelines.
. Monitors student achievement and works with teachers to improve student performance.
. Provides leadership in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation along with other administrators.
. Follows district, state, and federal guidelines in overseeing services provided for students who are eligible for exceptional
education services, students eligible for Section 504 and identified academically at risk students.
. Recruits and recommends the hiring of staff
. Supervises and evaluates all employees assigned to the building
. Performs other duties as assigned
Other Functions:
. Establishes and maintains good relationships with parent organizations
. Works cooperatively with other administrators, building staff, and site based groups
. Communicates with staff, parents, students, and the community about school activities and events
. Assumes responsibility for the security, safety of students and appearance of the physical plant
. Develops and maintains a safe, secure environment for students
. Conducts staff meetings, develops presentations for inservice programs, and identifies opportunities for professional
growth of staff
. Participates in administrative meetings as required
. Supervises and evaluates extra-curricular programs.
