Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Plant Manager to join our team at our fast-paced copacking facility. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity within the facility across multiple departments. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the desire to coach teams to success.

Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the operations team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Set performance objectives and expectations, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback to employees
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the operations team
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to optimize workflow and achieve operational goals
Safety Management:
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and improve safety measures
Quality Assurance:
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to customer specifications
  • Implement and monitor quality control metrics, analyzing data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to develop and enhance quality standards and procedures
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality requirements
Efficiency and Productivity Optimization:
  • Develop strategies to optimize production processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards
  • Analyze production data and implement measures to improve productivity, such as workflow enhancements, equipment upgrades, or process redesigns
  • Streamline operations by identifying and eliminating bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the production flow
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to safety, quality, and operations
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and environmental regulations
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address compliance issues and implement corrective actions as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), preferred
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in a packaging or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control processes, and production management techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement process improvements
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of motivating and developing teams
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in using productivity software and systems, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and data analysis tools
  • Experience implementing and utilizing a manufacturing execution system, preferred
