I.General Summary:
The St. Vincent de Paul Assistant Manager supports the mission of the organization and will assist in leading the general operations of the stores. This position will assist in the planning and direction for the logistics of the Thrift Store operations. This position will assist in the management of receiving, warehousing, and distributing of goods to retail Thrift Stores or recycling facilities. The position reports to the Director of Stores.
II.Minimum Qualifications:
A.Education, Experience, & Certifications:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Two years experience in management, and/or inventory control; equivalent experience may be substituted.
B.Other Qualifications:
Present a professional appearance. Display excellent supervisory and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrate skills as effective and efficient leader in coordination of resources. Interact and communicate—in word and action—cordially and productively with customers, donors, and other team members. Leads by interpreting and upholding established stores operational processes and procedures. Solve problems efficiently while working in a fast-paced team environment. Willingness to be flexible with job changes and willing to do other tasks when requested.
C.Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours with reasonable breaks). Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; and arms to reach; as well as the ability to talk, hear, and see for extended periods is required. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting up to 30 lbs occurs frequently and upto 75 lbs with assistance occurs occasionally. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
D.Working Environment:
This is a full-time position with the expectation of working in a store. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday -- time varies. May be required to work a flexible schedule including after normal hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. This position occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may work in high precarious places.
III.Essential Job Duties/Performance Standards:

1.Essential Job Duty: Team Member Supervision & Leadership
- Establishes and clearly communicates stores/warehouse work schedule and assignments to team; monitors overtime and maximizes production.
- In coordination with the Director of Stores, sets goals and objectives and supports the team in working toward their achievement; in abscence of the store manager, hosts regular all-hands meetings to inform and communicate achievements.
- Assist the manager in ensuring St. Vincent de Paul policies and procedures are clearly communicated and adhered to; reviews job description and orients new hires by setting clear expectations.
- Forecasts staffing needs and work with manager to develop a recruiting strategy to provide optimal staffing in all areas.
2.Essential Job Duty: Thrift Store Management
- In conjunction with the manager, prioritizes safety by adhering to St. Vincent de Paul policies and procedures; identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems; conducts or facilitates employee training on applicable safety standards; conducts safety inspections and audits.
- Will work closely with store manager to establish and keep track of our Voucher system. Ensuring that the needs are meet for all vouchers coming into the store.
- Safeguards store/warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Oversees recycling efforts by monitoring daily production and reviewing with the Director of Stores ensure the smooth transfer to facility.
- Controls inventory levels going out to the stores with the direction of the manager.
- Establishes an environment of teamwork and a friendly atmosphere.
