Assistant Maintenance Technician

The Assistant Maintenance Technician performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of Aegis buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds at various sites including carpentry, electrical and plumbing tasks. He or she will also maintain a clean, sanitary, and orderly work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform general repairs and treatments of floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs and carpet
• Troubleshoot, repair and adjust of locks and closures on doorways
• Assist in moving furniture and equipment as needed
• Exercise discretion in identifying projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person
• Clean offices, hallways, lobbies, break areas, restrooms, and laboratory areas
• Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment including but not limited to: vacuums, polishers, and buffer
• Dust furniture, light fixtures, and window sills, among other items as needed
• Maintain a sanitary facility through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment as necessary
• Dispose of trash, waste, and other disposable materials as needed
• Handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
• Plan work schedule with major tasks
• Report any needed repairs immediately to the Facilities Manager
• Use safety precautions in all housekeeping service
• Participate in process improvements, including process definition, measurement analysis, and implementation of controls
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
• Follow all safety guidelines and report any safety concerns to supervisor
• Other duties as required and assigned

A Successful Candidate Must Possess:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Qualified candidates must possess any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades (i.e. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC)
• Must be able to effectively use a variety of hand and power tools
• Must possess a valid driver’s license (must meet insurability requirements)

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
