Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Assistant Chief Legal Officer – Litigation & Compliance to develop and lead the Litigation & Compliance Group of the Law Department. In this senior role, you will report to the Chief Legal Officer of the company and develop your legal support team. The Litigation & Compliance Group will be responsible for providing strategic guidance, conducting legal research, developing case strategies, managing and overseeing complex litigation cases, and representing the company in court proceedings, alternative dispute resolution proceedings, and in settlement negotiations. This role will require a deep knowledge, understanding, and issue recognition of legal procedures, litigation strategies, case evaluation, and risk assessment, coupled with the ability to effectively advocate for and defend the company’s interests. requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee complex litigation cases from inception to resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Represent the company (either directly or through management and oversight of outside counsel) in court hearings, alternative resolution proceedings, and settlement negotiations).
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests and prepare witnesses for depositions and trial.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals to provide comprehensive and proactive legal compliance strategy for the company.
- Identify and quantify potential risks to avoid, mitigate, and resolve at an early stage whenever feasible any matters which have the potential of ripening into disputes and claims.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 7+ years law firm and/or in-house Litigation & Compliance experience.
- A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-tier U.S. law school, coupled with U.S. Bar admission and good standing, preferably with the Texas or multiple State Bars.
- Ability to manage a high volume of matters at any given time, work well under pressure, successfully handle, and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines.
- Strong commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- This position is in Downtown Houston, Texas 77002.
- The salary range is between $156,000 and $286,000 and may be adjusted based on experience, education, knowledge, skills, and previous salary history.
- This is a primarily on-site role (Monday through Friday). Given the nature of the business, we do not offer remote working opportunities.
- The ideal candidate is seeking immediate employment and can be available to start immediately or within a maximum of two weeks upon final employment agreement.
- Limited relocation assistance may be provided for the ideal candidate if necessary.
