Qualifications for Employment
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field and two (2) years of accounting experience or an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a related field and four (4) years of accounting experience. Experience should include account reconciliation with a computerized ERP system. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
The preferred candidate will have not-for-profit fund accounting experience.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
The Assistant for Financial Analysis-Finance/Payroll reports to the Payroll Supervisor or their designee and performs the following duties:
1. Prepares, reviews and analyzes statistical and financial reports for internal (College) or external (Federal, State, etc.) distribution/submission.
2. Completes an analysis of accounts within the General Ledger in accordance with documented procedures and schedules.
3. Assists with institutional bank reconciliations and banking issues as they relate to the payroll processing.
4. Completes ad hoc, monthly and annual reports including but not limited to retirement systems [TRS, ERS, TIAA], NYSDOL, and the Cost of Curriculum Study Report.
5. Responsible for payroll accounting including but not limited to salary journals, account audits, payroll processing audits, and bi-weekly payroll review.
6. Responsible for compilation and preparation of data for both internal and external agencies: e.g., external auditors.
7. Assists in the completion of annual calculations including but not limited to the unit raises, vacation accruals and terminal benefits required by the auditors.
8. Responds to daily inquiries both internal and external including but not limited to payroll earnings, deductions and net pay.
9. May assist with general accounting for other areas and/or entities including accounts payable, grants and the Educational Opportunity Center.
10. Performs other duties assigned.
There are one full-time 37.5-hour work week positions with a salary range of $44,000-$46,000.
