To qualify for the Assistant Field Manager (Resources) GS-12you must have one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in Federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as demonstrated experience in natural resources management (biological resources, cultural resources, lands and realty management, minerals resources, rangeland management, urban/regional or other land use planning programs, NEPA/CEQA or other environmental management/analysis programs, or equivalent), workforce management and strategic planning, identifying issues, resolving conflicts, and negotiating solutions. Oversight responsibilities for professional and technical staff management, administrative and financial management functions, as well as managing or supervising a complex natural resources, lands, minerals, or range program area, and experience in overall program management, budget, or human resource functions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
