Our Garden Segment is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to work at an Albany, OR location. This position will be responsible for farm maintenance with planting, turf maintenance, and outside field responsibilities.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
• Responsible for set-up of field design and field maintenance
• Manage planting and harvest operations
• Ensure that proper rates and procedures are followed for chemical applications
• Ensure that all safety measures are followed
• Responsible for accurate record-keeping for chemical applications, field notes, and equipment maintenance log
• Responsible for equipment repair and maintenance
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
• 2-to-4-year degree in an agricultural field preferred
• Previous farm work experience required operating tractors, irrigation systems, running farm equipment, and variety of tools
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in record-keeping and calibrations
• Ability to bend and lift throughout the course of a normal workday; continuous bending/lifting during turf maintenance and outdoor research plot projects while working outdoors in all kinds of weather
• Must have knowledge of planting, harvesting and related processes. General knowledge of turf grass species is a plus
• Must be able to work with and around a wide range of fertilizers, pesticides, and fumes. Current and active Pesticide License preferred; will undertake licensing process within first 6 months of employment
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Works well with others in teams. Must be responsible, reliable and dependable in work habits and personal work ethic
• Must be able to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimal to no supervision.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft (word, excel and powerpoint)
• Must be able to work weekends as needed during certain seasons
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
