Position Details
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Works with faculty and department chairs to develop expertise about university curriculum, degree requirements, and academic policies to ensure program fit, student compliance, and effective academic advising for students.
- Works with faculty and deans on Study Abroad trip planning, marketing efforts, financials, travel insurance, contracts, and pre-departure education.
- Coordinates with Public Safety and Student Health Services regarding trip logistics and responds to emergencies abroad and makes referrals as needed, as well as supporting student concerns, emergencies, special projects, and events during evening and weekend hours.
- Collaborates with the Provost’s Office, International Student Affairs Office, and Center for University Advising on programming and academic needs for incoming students.
- Collaborates with the Bursar’s office, Academic Records, Student Financial Services, and advisors to provide detailed application data for Study Abroad students.
- Provides students with high-quality support and guidance before, during, and after the Study Abroad experience and engages in on-going communication with students to ensure all application materials are complete.
- Communicates with students and families about Study Abroad opportunities and provide basic support for visas, financial policies, and procedures.
- Manages the TerraDotta Study Abroad software package and webpages.
- Works with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs to support new and existing relationships with overseas universities.
- Plans and executes special events and on-campus programming.
- Works to grow Study Abroad visibility through social media marketing and enhances the program’s campus presence through Admissions, parents and families, and other on-campus partners.
- Ensures alignment with best practices and compliance with relevant university policies.
- Manages office support as available and performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum two to five years of relevant experience in program development or higher education.
- Strong oral and written communication to positively engage people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, public speaking, and event planning skills.
- Evidence of clear understanding of the value of global experiences and cultural competency for college students.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed without restrictions.
- Master’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
- Study abroad or international affairs experience.
- Experience with Terra Dotta and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated international experience living, working, or studying abroad.
- Experience with academic, cultural, or developmental advising of college/university students.
- Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
