Department of Military Operations
Exempt, Regular, Full-Time, Pay Grade 2.1
Job Location: Fort Drum, NY
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an Assistant Director, Department of Military Operations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Monitor and evaluate employee productivity and performance through various channels, including observations in employee's environment as it pertains to customer service and knowledge of the military programs.
- Create and evaluate statistics for strategic decision-making.
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations of all military locations/affiliations to include but not limited to National Testing Centers, Student Service centers, and military instillations.
- Collaborate with the Director and make recommendations for individual and team training needs, opportunities, and business process improvements to ensure that department service levels and quality assurance standards are met.
- Develop and implement outreach campaigns to market UMGC programs and increase awareness within the military community.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Some evening, weekend hours and traveling is required to military sites as identified in the Western Region of UMGC operations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS degree required and a minimum of one year of experience managing and supervising others in a higher education or customer service support environment.
- The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills for both one-on-one interactions and group presentations; knowledge of People Soft and MS Office; strong leadership and management skills; is a proactive problem solver; and have the ability to work with diverse populations.
- 1 year supervisor experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Candidates with experience in higher education, military affairs, academic advising, recruitment, marketing, or customer service are preferred.
