We are searching for an Assistant Director Senior Counsel- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you will support the Director, Corporate Legal Operations in providing legal counsel and guidance to Texas Children's. You will be responsible for major legal functions of Texas Children's; will interact with state and federal agencies as appropriate; will support functions at Texas Children's involved in corporate operations and/or administration; will lead a team; will provide counsel, as appropriate, regarding contractual agreements entered into by Texas Children's components; will work with and serve as Texas Children's liaison to outside counsel, as appropriate; will participate in meetings and serve on committees appropriate; other matters as assigned by the Director, Corporate Legal Operations; and will assist in the management of the internal operations of the Corporate Legal Operations Department. This role will report up through the Office of the General Counsel.

Minimum Qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
- Juris Doctor Degree (JD) required
- License to practice law in the State of Texas is required.
- If candidate does not have a Texas law license, must have and maintain a license to practice law in another state and get licensed in the State of Texas within 18 months of hire.
- Knowledge of applicable areas of law and proven ability to provide practical legal advice that protects the assets and standing of the organization.
- 4 years' experience as a licensed Attorney required
- Experience in advising large corporations (preferably tax-exempt) either at a law firm or in-house preferred
- Extensive knowledge in several significant corporate areas, which may include general corporate, intellectual property,
data security, privacy, contracting, and/or labor and employment law, with experience in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
- Provides legal counsel to workforce, management, and executives. Responds to requests/inquiries from local, state and federal governmental agencies.
- Performs preparation, review and revision of contractual agreements, policies and procedures, and other document production for Texas Children's.
- Actively participates in Texas Children's committee meetings, subcommittees, ad-hoc meetings. Communicates effectively with Texas Children's executives and management regarding legal implications of business strategies, policies, procedures, and activities of Texas Children's components.
- Supervises, manages and directs the work of attorneys and paralegals and provides consistent feedback and coaching.
- Participates in departmental and executive team activities as assigned. Reviews legal invoices and assists the Director, Legal Corporate Operations with departmental budgetary activities.
