Job Title: Assistant Director ofYouth and Young Adult Ministries
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the role of Assistant Director ofYouth and Young Adult Ministries. First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta currently offers a vibrant Youth and college program, actively involving over 100 students each year through weekly youth groups, multiple weekend and weeklong retreats, diverse service events, and engaging social activities. This position is integral to the spiritual development, logistical planning, and overall well-being of our Youth and Young Adult communities. The incumbent will work closely with the Director to create and implement engaging programs, foster a supportive community, and provide guidance to young individuals on their Christian faith journey at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.
Key Responsibilities:
In cooperation with and under the supervision of the Director of Youth, College, and Young Adult ministries, the candidate filling this role will be expected to:
*Plan, execute, lead, and develop programs:
Youth group (Sunday evenings),
Youth PB&J service hour (Sunday mornings),
FPC’s Prayer Pal Ministry for college students,
Confirmation (bi-annually for 8thand 9th grade students),
Special events, social activities and service opportunities;
Two middle school retreats (Fall weekend retreat and week-long summer retreat),
and three other weekend or week-long high school retreats.
*Provide spiritual guidance and support through:
Engaging and relevant messages and lessons,
Developing curriculum and resources that addresses the spiritual needs of
students and Young Adults,
Discipleship and mentoring especially with Youth and college-aged girls through
one-on-one contact time, small groups, and special events.
*Communications, including but not limited to:
Managing FPC Atlanta’s Youth social media presence
Producing youth, college, Young Adult newsletters,
Effectively manage online registrations, calendars, and bulletin announcements.
*Leadership and team collaboration:
Partner with the director to align Youth and Young Adult ministry initiatives with the
broader goals and vision of First Presbyterian Atlanta,
Collaborate with volunteers and parents to ensure a supportive network for the
ministries,
Provide leadership in the absence of the director.
*Other duties as negotiated with/assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Vibrant faith and a maturing spiritual walk
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religion, Youth Ministry, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Previous experience with youth/youth ministry or a related role.
- Ability to meet physical demands required for the role.
- Proficiency in Canva preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate to and engage with individuals across diverse age groups.
- Organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and coordinate events.
