Job Description:

Assists the Director in the advancement of the Academic Support Center's Mission.  Develops and implements learning support services.  Collaborates with Deans, faculty, Program Directors, the Disability Services Specialist, and members of the university's community to provide learning support, resources, and outreach.  Partners with Academic Support Center staff to promote the University and Center's mission for student success through engagement, collaboration, and inclusiveness.

Position Monthly Rate: $5,340.00

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Assists with departmental annual assessment process
  2. Oversees and coordinates the recruiting, hiring, and evaluation of Mentors
  3. Creates monthly reports for center usage data
  4. Provides outreach, orientations, and marketing materials to promote student success and retention
  5. Keeps records of credit card spending
  6. Creates and assesses workshops for student success
  7. Monitors center web page and social media; recommends content, and updates
  8. Assists with the management of the center in the absence of the Director
  9. Collaborates with the Academic Support Center team to develop, implement, track, and assess student success interventions
  10. Serves as an Academic Coach for probationary students, working closely with the Undergraduate Dean to monitor student academic alerts
  11. Monitors student academic alerts with the CRM/Advise system
  12. Contacts and meets with students on alert to ensure academic progress and retention
  13. Plans and facilitates the Strategies for Academic Success course for probationary students
  14. Participates in committees, staff, and department meetings relevant to student success
  15. Assists the Director in planning and managing the Summer Pathways program
  16. Assists Director in Planning SPR 23X classes.
  17. Participates in the representation of the Academic Support Center within the university community
  18. Performs other duties as assigned

 


Requirements:

Knowledge: 

  • Operations, programs, and services offered through an Academic Support or learning environment.
  • General office procedures and applicable software programs
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Zoom, Canva, CANVAS, online calendar, and social media platforms as applicable to the position's duties
  • Knowledge of research, trends, and best practices relevant to the position
  • Previous sufficient supervisory experience
  • Organization and project management
  • Record keeping and administration
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds

           

Abilities and Skills:  

  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the Academic needs of a diverse group of college students within a religious institution (especially under-prepared students)
  • Effectively assess and clearly communicates concepts and applies accordingly  
  • Effectively works with other departments to coordinate a variety of academic programs
  • Analytical and detail oriented
  • Effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple projects to meet necessary deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, critical, and analytical skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects.  Coordinate with partners, initiate, and execute appropriate timelines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to initiate projects and drive them forward to completion
  • Ability and desire to take a leadership role in the development of activities and professional development of the Academic Support Center team
  • Maintain tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and confidential student and staff

Education: 

  • Master's degree in education, psychology, sociology, or related field
  • 2-3 years' working experience in settings or programs that support student success and learning with diverse student populations
