The Assistant Director of SUU Recreation and Wellness is responsible for the administrative oversight to organize and facilitate a wide range of events and programs to meet the intramural sport & recreation needs of the SUU Community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Director of SUU Recreation and Wellness will administer Intramural sports, wellness programs, fitness fairs, aquatics programs (Cedar City and SUU Community), and the supervision of Intramural student staff.
- The Assistant Director will provide direct supervision to the evening Recreation assistant.
- The Assistant Director of SUU Recreation and Wellness will collaborate with other campus and community groups to provide diverse recreational and Wellness programs and services.
- The Assistant Director will also assist in long- range planning that contributes to the student development and assumes other responsibilities as directed by the Assistant Director.
- Organization and planning of intramural event/programs.
- Marketing and advertising of intramural event/programs.
- Hiring and training of student staff.
- Oversight of equipment and other materials.
- Onsight attendance and facilitating intramural events/programs.
- Oversight of Recreation Assistant and their duties
- Evaluating and analyzing current and past intramural events/programs.
- Training, workshops, and ongoing learning to aid in betterment of job.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Recreation, Management, College student Personnel, or related area.
- One-Two years of demonstrated practical experience working in a Higher Education setting.
- Computer literacy.
- The ability to work with and supervise those with different management styles, skill levels, and backgrounds.
- The ability to evaluate the achievement of departmental goals and objectives through formal assessment and professional reports.
- The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with student development and personnel management within an institution of higher education.
- Intramural/recreation program development and management, supervision of paraprofessional staff, and experience implementing recreation or intramural programs for a variety of individuals.
- First aid CPR AED and Lifeguard Certifications.
