Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing assists with the supervision of all Nursing Staff providing care to residents. Assists with ensuring Nursing Staff provides quality care to patients while upholding regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participates in all aspects of resident care to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutic nursing care.
- Acts as a charge nurse to lead, guide, and direct nursing care of all nursing staff.
- Participates in programs of Infection Control and API.
- Assists with writing and maintaining policy and procedure manuals, along with nursing service forms.
- Stays up-to-date on latest developments relevant to field by attending professional seminars, institutes, and reading professional journals.
- Reviews care plans and ensures that care plan, medication, and treatment record and nurse notes comply with physician’s orders.
- Participates in weekly Medicare meetings with all ancillary staff.
- Gives medications, including IV piggyback-diluted medications and IV push medications
- Dresses and administers medications on various wound treatments.
- Starts IV as directed.
- Collects lab specimens and records daily.
- Charts medications and any other pertinent information about patients.
- Identifies and assists with resolving problems within the nursing department.
- Takes call rotation as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested by the DON.
Education/Qualifications/Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing School.
- Current RN License in the state of Georgia.
- Current CPR certification.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care facility preferred.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
