Responsibilities:
- Directs the implementation of Nursing department standards of care, practice, and performance hospital wide.
- Reviews patient acuity on units for implementation of appropriate staff assignments on evenings. Utilizes reassignment and overtime, as needed.
- Assesses competency through performance appraisals of Nursing personnel, observation, instruction, and incident investigations.
- Conducts disciplinary conferences and counseling with staff as needed.
- Develops and writes projected program goals and objectives for assigned nursing areas.
- Submit written reports to Director of Nursing bi-annually to reflect progress.
- Participates, supports, and implements continuous quality improvement and quality assurance which is both department and unit based.
- Conducts staff meetings.
- Investigates and follows up on all incident reports and unusual occurrences.
- Acts as a professional role model in regard to patient, family and staff interaction. Role model behavior includes verbal/nonverbal as well as professional appearance. Displays superior customer relation skills.
- Evaluates individual patient care, unresolved nursing problems and complications in treatment.
- Coordinates continuity of patient care with unit nurse managers.
- Provides individual supervision for charge nurses.
- Makes rounds on units on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
· Graduate from accredited school of Nursing
· New York State licensed Registered Nurse
· BSN required, Master’s degree preferred
· Three to five years clinical experience including previous leadership experience
· Demonstrated clinical and administrative abilities.
· Able to communicate effectively
· American Heart Association BLS adult and child
