CHICAGO KICS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF COACHING

Job Function: Assistant Director of Coaching

Team Roles Available: Chicago, IL

Job Type: Full-time/In-person

Reports To: Director of Coaching, Academy Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

Chicago KICS Football Club is seeking a passionate and thriving individual to join the club roster as the Assistant Director of Coaching. The Assistant DOC will help and respond to the DOC and the club in the areas assigned, as well as becoming head coach of travel teams and working closely with the Grassroots Director to grow the travel teams through the Juniors and Toddlers programs. Responsibilities include session planning, organization and field-set up, as well as representation of club values across the program. Candidates should be looking to advance their coaching education through completion of soccer coaching courses and certificates.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with Director of Coaching and Academy Director of all soccer related activities and the development of the club teams, coaches, trainers, and players.
  • Acts as an ambassador for the club and promote the interests of KICS at all times.
  • Recruits/trains coaches, assistant coaches, team managers and/or club coaching staff.
  • Hires/terminates team coaches and club staff (subject to DOC approval)
  • Integrates coaching curriculum, including organizing and implementing coaching clinics for all coaches.
  • Direct and consistent contact with team coaches regarding game day analysis and feedback, player/coach development, training program design, and delivering model training sessions.
  • Observes and evaluates practice sessions as appropriate and offer guidance and provides yearly written evaluation.
  • Provides support and improves player development while being the contact person for any coaching issues, including: training, concerns, disputes, and report to the DOC for any significant issues. Is the point of contact for players and parents.
  • Recruits and retains youth soccer players. Develops and implements a short and long-term strategic plan for club growth.
  • Organizes camps and clinics with club, local recreation programs and community organizations.
  • Head coach of at least 3 travel teams. Plans and executes progressive, age-appropriate training sessions in keeping with club philosophy and expectations.
  • Act as the KICS liaison in any matter that may affect the club, including representing the club at any functions, meetings, events or as directed by the DOC and/or Academy Director.
  • Coordinates tryouts and team formations according to relevant laws and rules. Provides a comprehensive structure to the DOC of how team formations will be implemented at least two months before the scheduled dates. This includes team coaching staff selection and announcement.
  • Advises/reviews team tournament selections with Academy Director to ensure proper team placement and appropriate challenge.
  • Conducts monthly coaches meetings. Attends weekly staff, coaching and developmental meetings.
  • Provide all services as necessary and directed by the BOD.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • US Soccer C license - or in the process of obtaining it
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Experience working with children 5 years and up
  • Background check in the State of Illinois
  • Knowledge of computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and website management.
  • Ability to work during the week and on the weekend.
  • Driving license and clean record.
  • US Soccer Citizenship or Legal and Valid Work Permit.
  • Residence within 25-mile radius of Chicago, IL.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to work under pressure and in tight deadlines
  • Reliability to attend all scheduled sessions and act professional at all times.
  • Excellent communication, dispute resolution skills, and problem-solving skills that incorporates flexibility as a growing club
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A self-starter/planner who sees the long-term picture of growth, which involves creating and implementing a vision for the future success of Chicago KICS.
  • Marketing/public/motivational speaking skills.
  • Ability to forge and maintain a partnership with local city recreation departments, including the surrounding front range cities.
  • Knowledge of Spanish as second language -Preferred

SUPERVISION AND TERMS

  • Report to the Academy Director and Director of Coaching (DOC), with respect to all matters concerning teams, coaches and player development.
  • Commissions and Incentives. The Assistant DOC may receive commissions/incentives determined at the sole discretion of the Academy Director
  • Termination. The Assistant DOC may be terminated by the Academy Director at their discretion. The Assistant DOC may terminate this agreement upon 30 days written notice to Academy Director.
  • In the event of a separation with Chicago KICS Football Club, there will be a 6 month-60 mile radius no-compete clause.
  • No financial commitments to any person or entity may be made without prior approval from the Academy Director.
