Job Summary
Manage all on-campus activities of student-athletes in the Football program.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recruiting and Admissions -
    • Liaison with Associate Athletic Director of Academics for football staff. Manage and coordinate all on campus admissions for incoming freshmen and transfer Coordinate the collection of documents required to certify the eligibility of students who transfer to the University. Questionnaires of high school recruits and high school coaches.
    • Preliminary transcript evaluations on high school and transfer prospects.
    • Cultivate and enhance relationships with ILHSFCA/OHSFCA/MHSFCA/IHSFCA.
    • Manage all correspondence with high school coaches for camps, clinics and general correspondences.
    • Follow up with Compliance Office on each signee.
    • Serve as football admissions coordinator. Review high school, junior college and one time transfer transcripts for football prospects and administer a pre-evaluation to determine recruit ability and institutional fit. Works with compliance staff to determine NCAA initial and transfer eligibility for each recruit.
    • Direct each recruit through the admission cycle.
    • Coordinate, review and advise department staff on transferability and applicability of non-University of Illinois courses that may affect ongoing requirements.
    • Advise on special eligibility requirements, particularly as it pertains to NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations.
  • Football Official Visits
    • Work with potential student athletes Guidance Office to obtain copies of current transcripts, test scores, and school officials' signature per NCAA rules prior to campus visit.
    • Supervise travel arrangements for all potential recruits including flights, airport transportation per NCAA rules.
    • Arrange and direct campus tours for recruiting during visits.
    • Account for all guest at each meal per NCAA rules.
    • Assist with all athletic ticket requests for official and unofficial visits for recruits, parents or legal guardians, student-athlete hosts and recruiting coaches.
  • Football Unofficial Visits • Correspondence and record keeping for athletic compliance. • Construct and develop itineraries for multiple unofficial visits throughout the year. • Schedule, supervise and manage all student employees during visits. • Direct Assistant Coaches to gather and share information regarding recruits (invites, family names, guest, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration or related field. Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to initial and continuing eligibility, Academic Progress Rate (APR), Graduation Success Rate (GSR), and federal graduation rates; skills in judgment and decision - making, problem solving, and project management; abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems; ability to multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Sports Administration or related field. Prior recruiting experience at Division I level; prior administrative experience at Division I level.

  • Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that related to this position is required.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 1/8/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience.
