Job Summary/Description:Manage the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive Aquatic Program and Facility Operations, which includes but not limited to design, promotion, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of activities, personnel, and Facilities.
Typical Duties/Job Duties:- Plan, organize, implement, and supervise all programs in the Natatorium, Open Recreation, and Special Event Programs in the Ben Kelly Center for Human Performance and outdoor facilities.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise a comprehensive aquatics program, which includes community Learn-to-Swim, summer programs, and American Red Cross Health and Safety classes.
- Inspect and oversee maintenance of all indoor and outdoor recreational facilities.
- Develop and disseminate program marketing material and promote activities.
- Prepare and manage program budgets.
- Purchase, inventory, and maintain equipment and supplies.
- Plan and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge and ability of indoor and outdoor facility management;
- Knowledge of program marketing, organization, and implementation;
- Knowledge of budget preparation, risk management policies, and student development skills;
- Knowledge and ability in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student personnel, including lifeguards, water safety instructors, operational supervisors, and welcome desk staff;
- Knowledge and ability in personnel management;
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills;
- Skilled in computer operations and word processing capabilities.
- Bachelors degree in kinesiology, recreation, physical education, sports management or a related field with two years of experience in the management of Aquatics programs and indoor and outdoor facility management.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance company.
- Masters degree in kinesiology, recreation, physical education, sports management or a related field.
- Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR-PRO/AED Certification.
- Current American Red Cross Instructor Certification (Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and or CPR Instructor) or ability to obtain within first year.
Position requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, grasping, and lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. Night and weekend activity supervision required.
