Job Description
We are seeking a Full or Part-time Assistant Director/Lead Teacher to join our organization! The Assistant Director/Lead Teacher will be assisting the Center Director. The Assistant Director/Lead Teacher position is responsible for the overall safety and compliance of the operation, and by achieving the organizations overall vision. In the absence of the Center Director, the Assistant Director/ Lead Teacher has sole responsibilities for the organization to run smoothly and re-enforce directives given to staff from the Center Director. The Assistant Director /Lead Teacher assists in the promotion of the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children, and assist with a variety of administrative tasks, opening and closing of the center (at least 50%of the time).
The position requires strong verbal communication and listening skills to be able to converse effectively with not only the students, but teachers, parents, and the public. Minimum 2 years of successful childcare experience, valid cpr and first aid, current annual ceu's, current fingerprint and background check, valid drivers license, and the ability to multi-task while providing exceptional service. Must be a self-starter and able to think outside of the box. Must have previous experience as a classroom teacher and previous front desk/office administrative skills, trainings, and college business administration credit hours. Must be familiar with Texas Minimum Standards and willing to obtain ongoing training. Only experienced need to apply. CDA is preferred, not required. Pay rate depends solely on level of experience as an Assistant Director.
This individual must be able to plan and present age-appropriate activities for children.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
- Assist Teachers with planning, classroom management, etc.
- Oversee Teachers work hours and trainings are being followed accordingly
- Be accountable for the operation of the center, ensuring the center is operating and complying in accordance with Fresh Start and State guidelines and standards
- Responsible for ensuring a fun, safe, and learning environments for all children in care
- Spark imaginations, build self-esteem, and help all children grow and discover new things daily
- Assist with schedules and routines for teachers to ensure adequate, physical activity, rest, and playtime for all children
- Promote a positive image for the organization, and play a major role in the making of the organization being a great choice of provider regarding educational programs within the overall community
- Assist with recruit, selection, and retain quality staff
- Assist with driving to and from school (if need be)
- Prepare meals and snacks for children
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents
- Effectively communicate with parents on students' growth and progress as needed
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Oversee areas are being cleaned and sanitized throughout the day
- Make sure the center is always clean and presentable (inside and outside) as presentation is key
