Job Description:
Function of Position:
In coordination with the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life works with professional and paraprofessional Housing and Residence Life staff to support the residential student experience at Monroe Community College. The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life will assist in the facilitation and development of the Residence Life environment in the residence halls that promotes an exceptional living/learning experience for the residential population.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Share in the supervision, direction, and development of all professional and paraprofessional staff within the Residence Life function.
  2. Oversee departmental programming and assist in the development and implementation of a residential programming model.
  3. Assist in essential elements of operation which contribute to the adequate maintenance and occupancy of the facility, including room assignments using a housing occupancy software (The Housing Director software)
  4. Work with college and department staff to coordinate and oversee the Housing and Residence Life conduct process utilizing the Maxient conduct software and adjudicating cases.
  5. Assist in the development and execution of processes for recruiting, selecting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating professional and paraprofessional Housing and Residential Life staff.
  6. Serve with Director in on call 12-month emergency rotation for consultation with Resident Director staff.
  7. Plan and implement annual orientation/opening weekend program for first year and transfer students.
  8. Work collaboratively with staff and the Director in support of summer conferencing, including contract management, service coordination, building preparation, and summer placement.
  9. Manage residence hall operations including key management, card access coordination, and building condition reports.
  10. Serve as a liaison between the Residence Life staff and other on and off campus resources with respect to student development programs.
  11. Participate in division-wide and campus-wide committees.
  12. Comply with all local, state and federal requirements.
  13. Work evening and weekend hours, as requested.
  14. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Housing and Residence Life or his/her designee.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Student Personnel, or related field and a minimum of three years professional work experience in Residence Life, including experience in aspects of housing operation;
Crisis management
Human resources/supervision
Information technology
Residential education
Student behavior
The successful candidate is detail oriented. On campus housing is optional.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Residence Hall administrative experience
  • Experience with management software for Housing and/or student conduct
  • Ability to work successfully with students, parents, the general public and other college departments
  • Ability to manage budgetsDemonstrated skills in problem solving and mediation for diverse populations
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $50,000 to $60,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.
