Job Summary

This primary function of this position is to supervise the scholarship and grants staff and student workers. This position is responsible for overseeing the proper awarding, disbursing, reconciling, and auditing of all Grants and scholarship programs. Other duties include maintaining operating procedures and reviewing regulatory changes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional grant and scholarship programs. Staffing and participating in some outreach programs is required.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$3,986 – $5,183/month

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in business, communications, humanities, social sciences, or a closely related field to the position.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of full time (or part time equivalent) professional experience working in student services, financial aid/loans or a closely related field within higher education or a related agency.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree
2. Experience using a query language to develop reports
3. Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.

Work Hours

Core work hours are 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Position occasionally requires work beyond regular office hours.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.

If hired, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days from the start date for this position.
