Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Director, Energy Management Systems for The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The position reports to the Director of Utilities Operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides managerial leadership for the mechanical infrastructure maintenance of building automation systems state-wide, otherwise known as the Energy Management System or EMS.
- Develops policies and procedures for EMS Operations, assisting in the development and management of the budget
- Coordinates and supervises the activities of the supervisors and mechanical personnel state-wide.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, management, engineering or architecture or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience can be substituted for the degree requirement.
- A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in facilities management is required, three years of which must be in a leadership/management position, in a higher education or institutional setting.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent management, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Project management experience to include knowledge of blueprint reading, contracts, RFD'S & RFQ'S, construction and building codes required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of the APPA Institute for Facilities Management or certification in a recognized Facilities Management Certification Program is desirable.

- EMS Software, AIM work order management system, Kronos time & attendance system, Marketplace, Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
