Assistant Director, Corporate Accounting Manager
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional looking to lead the monthly close process, internal financial reporting, and implement best practices for a rapid close. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively execute in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving business environment. This individual must possess a strong understanding of GAAP and have the ability and skillsets to successfully interact with, mentor, coordinate, and lead a large Finance team through the monthly close process. This position will lead and own all aspects of the financial close, including journal entry and reconciliation review, consolidations, internal reporting, as well as other special projects of the Controllership office. This role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with established internal controls and will interact regularly with both internal and external auditors. In this role, you will lead and support corporate initiatives towards process improvement and support transformational projects to achieve best in class results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage the monthly corporate accounting close activities, which includes coordinating with both accounting and FP&A individuals in preparation of the month-end financial reporting package
- Oversee the Corporate general ledger, which includes the review of journal entries and reconciliations for the following balance sheet line items: cash, fixed assets, prepaids, patents, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities
- Prepare and present accurate and timely internal financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Provide monthly and quarterly financial statement analyses of the Corporate general ledger
- Collaborate with the technical accounting team and other functional teams, including assessing accounting implications and designing operational processes to support the Company’s implementation of new accounting pronouncements or new business initiatives
- Evaluate and recommend best practices and process improvement opportunities
- Support and actively participate in process improvement initiatives, system implementations and other responsibilities as assigned in order to optimize accounting processes that will help us scale with company growth
- Develop working relationships to collaborate with Finance, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Tax, and Treasury to meet day-to-day operational needs
- Prepare audit deliverables and coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely completion of the quarterly reviews and the annual audit
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8+ years of demonstrated success in accounting roles of increasing responsibility, preferably a mix of both public accounting and corporate accounting roles within a publicly traded company
- 3+ years of managing a team
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX 404(b) compliance
- Demonstrated experience with process and/or system automation. System implementation experience a plus.
- Previous experience managing a team with a commitment to creating an environment that fosters career growth and development for the team
- Must have the ability to execute multiple tasks, while remaining detail oriented with high commitment to quality, and able to adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable in an interrogative environment; embraces collaboration and open debate to manage projects, solve problems and discuss challenging issues
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; willingness to accept responsibility for projects/processes
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization
- Experience with multiple ERPs preferred (such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, and/or Oracle)
- Blackline experience preferred, but not required
- CPA preferred, but not required
