The Assistant Director of Financial Aid, Student Employment is responsible for all aspects of Student Employment. This position responds to calls and emails from students, departments and parents regarding financial aid matters. This position represents Seton Hall University on and off campus for financial aid related events such as open houses and community service organization recruitment. This position also supports the Financial aid office in staying compliant in Institutional, Federal, and State regulations. Works closely with the Payroll, Grants Accounting, Budget, Career Services, IT and Law School, in monitoring funding limits, reconciling of accounts, and projections.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the Hiring process of student workers. Utilize the PageUp system to monitor, review, and process hiring proposals for student hires. Utilize Reports to ensure correct uploads of information from students and hiring managers. Initiate communications to advise of pertinent information regarding anything student employment related. Coordination with payroll office to review bi-weekly payroll errors prior to completion of the payroll.
2. Manage and create proactive communications to supervisors and students regarding pertinent student employment policies and procedures. Sending out timely information to Dept supervisors of funding limits and cut off periods. Advising students when they are close to reaching work study awards.
3. Represent Seton Hall Financial Aid interests at internal and external events such as open houses, Pirate Preview, HS financial aid nights, Student Employment workshops and outside organizations. Provide training to staff, departments, and supervisors regarding the Student Hiring Process and system.
4. Responsible for the completion of the student employment section of The FISAP. Coordinate with Grants Accounting, Law School and Career Services for accurate information input.
5. Supervise a Financial Aid Counselor position that assists with Student Employment. Oversee compliance of stipend process and payments to students. Monitor, review, and respond to emails received in the Student Employment Inbox.
6. Assist financial aid office with other general task as needed, i.e. verification, front counter rotation, FA Presentation chat room assistance.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience
