Assistant Delivery Manager

THE VICTORIA ADVOCATE, The Crossroads leading daily newspaper, is looking for an individual with leadership ability for the position of ASSISTANT DELIVERY MANAGER. As a Assistant Delivery Manager, you will work under the tutelage one of our Delivery Managers to learn all aspects of our Circulation system. You will also work directly with newspaper carriers to ensure timely delivery of papers, learn how to recruit new carriers and manage compliance with independent contractor agreements, and promote the growth of circulation in a district.

This an entry level position that will lead to a management role. Nights and Weekends are required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with independent contractors (carriers) to include learning to recruit and train new carriers
• Learn how to monitor and ensure carrier compliance with independent contractor agreements and how to terminate contracts when necessary
• Deliver papers to routes without carriers when necessary
• Learn to perform audits/spot checks of routes within assigned district
• Ensure that route book is maintained for each route in assigned district
• Learn techniques to meet goals for complaint ratio and market penetration
• Review and address customer complaints, learn to develop action plan to prevent reoccurrence and follow up with customers as needed to ensure their satisfaction
• Identify areas for growth within the assigned district
• Communicate changes with subscribers and carriers
• Fill supply tickets for carriers
• Attend meetings and training when required
• Assist in covering other district(s) when necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned by management team

Education and Experience:

• High school degree/GED
• No prior experience required
• Some supervisory experience a plus

Essential Qualifications:

• Must be able to work nights and weekends
• Must be able to repetitively lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Basic skills in Microsoft Office (i.e., internet, Outlook, Excel, and Word)
• Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record and minimum insurance requirements
• Dependable transportation
• A satisfactory preemployment drug screen and background check are required.
