Foster School of Business is seeking an Assistant Dean of MBA Career Management to lead professional development in the MBA Community.
This position provides forward-looking, strategic leadership for the MBA CM team to carry out strategies, projects, and events in career education programs, career advising, employer relations, alumni services, and operations inclusive of deployment of appropriate recruiting technology. The Director fosters a student-, alumni-, and employer-focused culture of responsiveness, accountability, and support among staff to further professional development outcomes for both job seekers and firms. This role combines strategy and execution informed by data, using the latter to guide decision-making for the team it support and Foster School community members.
The position:
Plans, and administers the team, the model, and its execution for coaching and advising of Full-Time and Evening MBA students as it pertains to their professional development and career progress. Directly counsels a subset of students enrolled in these programs. Recommends program changes or enhancements that produce better career development outcomes for interns and graduates. Oversees all administrative aspects of the program including advising and employer relations outreach strategies, staff management, budget development, office management, records management and standards-compliant outcomes reporting, student coaching and advising, and new initiatives. Provides authoritative advice and consultation relating to academic advising programs to faculty, staff, and students. Supervises academic counselors, employer relations professionals, support staff, and contractors providing professional development services to students. Works with faculty in curriculum planning and implementation as it pertains to Foster Professional Development course and co-curricular offerings Works with alumni, geographic advisory boards, and business company stakeholders to innovate and improve upon the existing development model for students and direct its execution Advises program admissions team colleagues on the suitability of prospective students from the perspectives of professional development aptitude and future employability.
What You Will Do:
Professional Development Operations-
Plan and direct a comprehensive professional development model for students beginning with acceptance of admission through the year following graduation. This model will include career discovery, networking and interviewing skills, personal coaching, offer negotiation, and other key stages of professional development for students. Oversee career coaching, employer relations, a mentorship program, as well as program administrative support functions including budget/fiscal activities, supervision of staff, and program operations. Deliver inclusive excellence for and to all program stakeholders. Manage content delivery in professional development curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular experiences. Manage career-focused communication efforts to students and alumni. Represent the Career Management team at core faculty meetings. Provide a professional development lens to the admissions team regarding prospective students applying to the Foster School. Develop collaborative working relationships with student leaders, clubs, and groups to enhance engagement and outcomes.
Strategy-
Provide strategic leadership for long-range management and day-to day administration of MBA Career Management program including the wide-range of anchoring frameworks, tools, and development experiences for students. Develop the program budget to reflect professional development strategy and goals, reciliation and projections. Annual budget development. Revise activity plans and financial impact as necessary to facilitate successful fulfillment of career services goals and continuity in delivery of quality service. Recommend and implement new initiatives and services for students, employers, and alumni in response to rapidly changing market conditions. Engage press and social channels as well as higher ed industry organizations and diversity affinity partners to further Foster community interests.
Employer Relations -
Manage the system delivering high-quality information and service to current and prospective recruiters of Foster students. Direct the work of the MBA Career Management employer relations team in identifying new employer partners while continuing to grow and strengthen connections with existing employers. Manage engagement with 3 regional Employee Advisory Boards. Manage and deliver an external communications campaign to the business community.
Staff Management -
Manage day-to-day operations of prospective staff, including; interview, hire, review of goals and expectations, manage staff development plans, conduct the annual performance review process for professional and classified (union) staff. Hire and train student workers and temporary staff.
Reporting -
Monitor and report on student and alumni professional development outcomes in a manner consistent with industry reporting standards. Assess student and employer satisfaction in a manner which facilitates actions aimed at improved professional development outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, Counseling, or related field and a minimum of 6-years' experience in CAREER MANAGEMENT/student professional development in higher education or talent management within industry demonstrating increasing responsibility.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues/staff to create a results-driven, team environment
DESIRED:
• Master's or terminal degree in business, educational administration, counseling, or related field.
• Six or more years of professional experience in graduate business CAREER MANAGEMENT including program development, coaching, employer relations, budgeting, and supervisory experience.
