CBC seeks an Assistant Dean for Instruction who will be responsible for the development and support of new initiatives within the Office of Instruction and establishing and maintaining baccalaureate opportunities for CBC students, including the baccalaureate degrees offered by the College and the strengthening of articulation agreements to transfer colleges and universities, oversight of the Perkins Grants to improve the quality of career and technical education for students, and other special projects. The Assistant Dean for Instruction has direct supervision over the Curriculum and Scheduling Services department and the Director for K-12 Relationships.
The Assistant Dean researches student and community instructional needs and advises the President and the Vice President for Instruction on potential programmatic opportunities leading to certificates and degrees that the College may successfully develop. This position also works with deans and faculty to support the development of new and the improvement of existing programs.
The Assistant Dean is responsible for taking program development projects from conception and approval to implementation and maintenance. The Assistant Dean plays a key role in advancing the College's commitment to developing and delivering high quality baccalaureate degrees. Additionally, the Assistant Dean has a leadership role in working with deans and directors across the College in developing, coordinating, and maintaining the cross-institutional support system necessary to assure student success. The Assistant Dean reports to the Vice President for Instruction (VPI).

Primary Responsibilities
Program Development
  • Work with deans and faculty to conduct research on community employment needs and survey industry and potential students to document demand for various programs, including new baccalaureate degree programs that align with the mission of the College;
  • In coordination with the deans, propose new programs to the President and Vice Presidents;
  • Guide faculty and administrators in updating existing curricula and through the process of selecting and developing new programs;
  • Develop and implement new baccalaureate degree programs, curricula, budgets and other programmatic changes using the processes established by the College and state for approval of programs, including accreditation processes
  • Solicit participation of external expert reviewers for program applications;
  • Cooperate with deans and directors in establishing, implementing, and monitoring Instructional projects to meet College needs; and
  • Represent the College on state Baccalaureate Leadership Council.
Scheduling
  • Coordinate the scheduling of courses supporting the College's bachelor's degrees;
  • Lead the Baccalaureate Advisory Committee to ensure consistent practices in all baccalaureate programs; and
  • Provide leadership to the Curriculum and Scheduling Services department.
Articulations and K-12 Partnerships
  • Coordinate the creation of strong articulation agreements between CBC's various pathways and four-year institutions; communicate with community and technical colleges and state universities to create articulation pathways for students; and
  • Oversee the development of various K-12 relationship, including the development of pathways from K-12 programs into CBC's various certificate and degree programs.
Grants
  • Manage the Perkins grant budget; monitor grant budget management within established procedures; and
  • Perform other special projects or duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university; and
  • Four (4) years of experience as a director, administrator, or program manager in an educational or non-profit setting.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, overtime exempt, administrative staff position. The typical work hours for this position are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, work hours may vary due to work demands and some evening and weekend work may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
Work environment includes usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions and background noises.

Effective date of coverage

For 2024, FSA annual contributions can be between $120 minimum and $3,050 maximum. As a "use it or lose it" IRC governed plan, medical expense reimbursements can be requested for employee, spouse, or IRS eligible dependents.
