Description
The Assistant Dean, Business Studies is responsible for assisting and supporting the Dean in the administration of the academic programs for all campus locations. The essential functions of this position will include: program accreditation, curriculum development, program and course assessment, and collaboration across campuses for various student initiatives, e.g., retention and experiential learning opportunities.
Examples of Duties
Maintains continued ACBSP accreditation for programs that are currently approved, while investigating and advancing the ACBSP accreditation to new programs and campuses. Assists with the development and monitoring of program and course goals, objectives, and outcomes.Serves as a resource for assessment activities for the Division.Coordinates the submission and implementation of course and program additions, revisions, and deletions according to the prescribed curriculum revision processes on each campus.Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop and implement effective teaching, support, and retention strategies for students.Coordinates division-wide and program-specific initiatives with program coordinators. Provides counseling and advisement to students on academic issues. Establishes and maintains relationships with new and existing business partners in order to provide relevance in the curricula and experiential learning opportunities for students. Communicates and collaborates professionally with personnel from other divisions and departments to honor the mission and values of the College and the Division and to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.Promotes and supports the value of diversity and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of teaching and learning.Maintains a high level of expertise through participation in approved professional development activities and regular review of professional journals and other publications.Consistently exhibits professionalism in the performance of duties and in serving in place of the Dean at meetings and events in the College and the community. Performs all other duties, as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in the field of Business or a related area of studyThree years of teaching experience in higher education, preferably in a community college environmentDocumented experience in curriculum development and assessment Documented familiarity with a variety of learning delivery modalities, e.g., face-to-face, live-on-line, hybrid, and fully online programs Documented proficiency in oral and written communications and interpersonal relations, including the ability to present to administration, community groups, students, and/or Board of TrusteesPossess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.If certain conditions exist, this position requires you to have access to personal technological equipment and capabilities to perform your duties.Supplemental Information
