Assistant Controller

Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and vision for subsidiary accounting teams and ensure accurate accounting and reporting
• Participate in the preparation of external (SEC) financial reports and financial disclosures
• Assist with oversite of the monthly close process for all entities and review subsidiary journal entries as required
• Review Board letter and other Board presentation materials as required
• Perform management review and approval of controls over financial reporting processes
• Assist in budgeting and planning efforts at corporate and subsidiary levels 
• Oversee preparation of quarterly auditor PBCs for corporate and work with auditors as needed 
• Assist in the development and implementation of corporate and subsidiary policies and procedures for accounting and regulatory changes and compliance 
• Assist with treasury management including processing of wires and cash monitoring
• Become Unicom financial reporting tool Administrator
• Become proficient with other in-house financial reporting tools and provide ad hoc reports as needed
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting as determined by Management
• Lead/participate in special projects for the company as required
• Perform cost accounting analysis support at corporate and subsidiary levels
• Provide training and education to corporate and subsidiary staff on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required with 8+ years’ experience in complex accounting/finance roles (i.e. multi-location, multi-product organizations); CPA preferred
• Requisite skills to understand the financial drivers of the business, ensure the accuracy of US GAAP accounting, work with external auditors, and communicate well with internal managers on the financial performance of the company.
• Experience with annual budget and long-range financial planning processes and managing and developing monthly financial reporting and analysis is required.
• Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and intellectual curiosity, and the ability to be an individual contributor when called upon.
• Team oriented, able to take direction and work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology for efficiency gains.
