Job Description
General Job Brief:
Under the direction of the Head Track and Field Coach, the Assistant Coach (Throws) will design and implement a training program for javelin, discus, shot put, and hammer. Additionally, the coach will assist in the recruitment and ongoing evaluation of the student-athletes.
This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities (assists the head coach in the following areas):
- Establish and maintain a culture of faith, influence, relationships, excellence.
- Day-to-day operations support to include but not limited to:
- Evaluation of student-athlete performance.
- Design and implementation of training programs and practice regimens.
- Competition preparation and coaching.
- Monitor the academic performance of selected student-athletes.
- Provides spiritual guidance, prayer, and support for the team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.
- Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.
- The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated connection to the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University.
- Competitive or coaching experience in collegiate or high-level Track & Field
Working Conditions:
- General intercollegiate athletics environment with specific concern for Track & Field. Meeting with student-athletes as needed. Travel to competition and recruitment as needed.
Time Required:
- Standard college Track & Field calendar for in-season and out-of-season plus academic year commitments with respect to support recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
