Assistant Coach - Baseball

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Location: Lisle Campus
Position Summary: Thisposition is responsible for assisting the Baseball program.
Essential JobResponsibilities:
1. Assist in developing arecruitment strategy for prospective student-athletes. Inform prospects of universityacademic programs, talent evaluation, coordinating mailings, telephone calls, andemail exchanges. Maintain department and University standards for communicationby actively monitoring on-campus and off-campus through in-person contacts.Work effectively with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and theOffice of Enrollment Services to meet recruitment goals.
2. Assist with day-to-day duties: Assist in the planning, development, and direction of all team training and conditioning activities in the traditional segment at a level that will place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference. Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NCAA regulations and Sports Performance expectations in the declared playing and practice seasons.
3. Serve as game day manager for Benedictine University Athletics and the Sports Complex. Assist with all event responsibilities including set up and take down and overseeing events. Responsible for initiating contact with all visiting athletic teams to identify gameday needs. Coordinate the setup and take down for home athletics events.
4. Implementation and organization of student-athlete services program. Partner with the student success center and coaching staff in providing academic services for student-athletes. Partner with Student-Athlete Services to assist students with daily needs and services.Create a "watch" list each term, as well as monitor class attendance and term progress reports. Coordinate with Student-Athlete Services to inform faculty of student-athlete absences. Assist with the retention of student-athletes through social and academic counseling and interaction with the University retention team and coaching staff.
5. Support and supervise outside groups that utilize the Rice Center and/or Sports Complex during the summer months (June 1 - August 15).Work closely with the Associate Director of Athletics - Facilities Management in scheduling 20 hours/ week of supervision of these events.
OtherFunctions:
1. Adherence to all Benedictine University and Division of Student Engagement policies and procedures. Work independently and creatively within established guidelines, while at the same time functioning as a member of a team.
2. Attend departmental and University-related meetings and events.
3. Strong leadership, administrative, planning, and presentation skills, including oral and written communication.
4. Work in coordination with university offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate program needs, and serve on University committees as needed.
5. Maintain a high level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks.
6. Ability to attain goals through knowledge of regulation and accreditation requirements, as well as incorporate best practices into initiatives.
7. Ability to create a culture of collaboration with all campus constituents.
8. Experience working in the areas of inclusion, diversity, equity and access
9. Employs sound project management practices, methodologies, and principles to accomplish work.
10. Proven ability to organize information; assess, utilize, and navigate online platforms; and conduct detailed data analysis and develop reports based on data.
11. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations and matters with diplomacy and superior judgment.
12. Ability to complete high-level analysis of data.
13. Demonstrated analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred
Experience: Previous collegiate coaching preferred.
Specific Skills: Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules andregulations.
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes. Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills,data entry, and budget management skills, and demonstrated supervisory skills. Valid Driver's License is required. CPR certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.
See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General Customer service and office environment.

Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable): Yes - Student Workers if needed
Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environment. Nights and weekends are required.
Training: As a University employee you are requiredto complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfillyour job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or inperson. Employees must complete all trainings required byBenedictine University.
