Duties
As Assistant City Clerk, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to support the efficient operation of the city government. Your duties will include:
- Greeting the public and answering the telephone for City Hall; direct visitors and calls to appropriate parties; provides information as requested.
-Accepts water/sewer payments at window; enters payment data to computer.
-Accepts payments for water/sewer deposits and new water and sewer taps.
-Balances cash register; maintains petty cash fund; makes bank deposits as needed; posts cash deposits to receipt books.
-Writes work orders for Public Works Department; calls in requests for line locations; dispatches crews as necessary.
-Issues occupational tax permits; prepares billing annually for occupational tax permits.
-Sorts mail; distributes mail to the various departments.
-Balances bank statements as required.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following experience and skills:
- Previous experience as a clerk or in office management
- Familiarity with medical office procedures is a plus
- Proficiency in data entry and record keeping
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to transcribe accurately and efficiently
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Financial Software
- Skill in oral and written communication.
