About the job
Turning Point Brands, whose mission is to build and distribute great experiences, is seeking a creative, analytical, and strategic Assistant Brand Manager for the Zig Zag & Clipper brands. This role reports to the Sr. Brand Manager, Zig Zag, but will work closely with the Sr. Brand Manager, Clipper and numerous cross-functional partners and is responsible for supporting brand strategy and execution. This role is based in the Santa Monica, CA office. Pay range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 a year.
Essential Functions
- Support the development of the annual marketing plan to ensure growth targets (share, volume, financial performance) are achieved, while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Support building various aspects of brand plans that are consumer-first with an understanding of the full picture of brand building (the Ps).
- Partner with the Brand Managers and other members of the brand team to guide the creative executions that build brand equity based on brand positioning, campaigns, vision statement, and core strategies.
- Leverage category trends and consumer insights to build brand plans that continue to grow these iconic brands.
- Evaluate the competitive landscape and ensure the brand is effectively competing.
- Work with Product Development to align on commercialization and go-to-market plans of incremental line extensions and/or new products, supporting Trade Marketing in the development of appropriate sales support materials.
- Management of timelines for NPD and apparel/accessories utilizing Gantt charts (or similar project management tool).
- Partner with Digital team to create and support digital plans that support annual growth targets with a keen focus on a balanced investment given Zig-Zag and Clipper brand goals.
- Partner with Creative team to drive break-through creative work with a concentration on building brand awareness, equity, and establishing key points of differentiation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements with a focus on productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure strong business plans and execution.
- Provide regular updates on assigned brand(s) to senior management including monthly brand performance reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing or related subject
- 2+ years' experience, ideally in a CPG company
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations, which the company will assist in and coordinate training
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Nielsen/IRI/MSA experience
- Knowledge and experience with Google Analytics
- Ability to travel 15% of the time
- Experience with highly regulated brands
