Assistant Athletics Director, Donor Relations

Main Work Location: Stanford historic campus
Schedule: Hybrid preferred (2-3 days per week onsite); open to Remote.
The Department of Athletics development team seeks a Assistant Athletics Director, Donor Relations. This individual will bring their strategic mindset to lead a team of Donor Relations officers and events staff to produce compelling and consistent donor communications, events, recognition, impact reporting, and acknowledgements. The Assistant Athletics Director, Donor Relations will serve on the development leadership team tasked with strengthening donor ties to the athletics department and inspiring philanthropic support for Stanford's student athletes. Housed within Stanford Athletics, the development team is a part of the Office of Development (OOD) which advances Stanford's mission by raising philanthropic support from alumni, parents, families, friends, and institutional funders. Working in concert with volunteers and university leaders, OOD staff members strive to accelerate Stanford's purposeful impact in the world. Every member of the Office of Development staff plays a role in providing the university's donors with the service and attention that ensures an exceptionally positive and fulfilling philanthropic experience.
Your responsibilities include:

• Serving as lead strategist for athletics development communications, Donor Relations, and special events programs, establishing and consistently evaluating program practices for efficacy and efficiency.
• Maintaining a portfolio of fundraising communications projects such as priority papers and proposals, as assigned in partnership with the athletics fundraising team.
• Providing leadership direction for a robust events calendar that features unique experiences for donors to engage with coaching staff and student athletes.
• Providing leadership direction for an annual impact reporting cycle for donors that support a broad spectrum of programmatic and financial aid activities for student athletes.
• Overseeing fund management for athletics, ensuring that gifts are utilized in accordance with donor expectations and university policy in a timely manner. Resolve discrepancies and escalate when needed.
• In partnership with senior leaders, developing and implementing reporting and recognition programs for athletics top donors.
• Tracking and analyzing results of engagement activities within athletics, reporting on overall results to internal and external constituencies.
• Hiring, training, setting individual performance goals, and completing annual performance reviews for the engagement team.
• Maintaining relationships with gift officers and donors. Developing and cultivating open channels of communications with colleagues across athletics and the university.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Ability to understand and articulate how engagement activities support and advance the broader fundraising agenda.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit high-level correspondence.
• Demonstrated strong project management and fund compliance skills.
• Demonstrated experience using multiple data management systems to pull information to create coherent reports.
• Strong client service orientation and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and professionalism to interact with a wide range of people at different levels of an organization.
• Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, with competing deadlines.
• Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring independent decision-making and in handling confidential and sensitive material.

Additional preferred skills include:

• Experience in development communication or Donor Relations roles.
• Experience in higher education and passion for college athletics.
• Experience with relationship or prospect management systems.
• Experience with project management software.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.
The expected pay range for this position is $88,000 - $162,000 per annum.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

• Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, stand/walk, sit, use a telephone.
• Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Non-commercial Class Driver's license.
