*Engineer Classification is multi-level based on the qualifications guidelines outlined in the Company's Engineer Career Path, Administrative Policy 2.13. A minimum classification of an Engineer I is required in this position.
Concept: The Asset Management (AM) Engineer in a Solar & DER Control capacity directs the development of SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and integration of utility scale solar and other Distributed Energy Resources (DER) with the Tampa Electric Grid. In either capacity, the AM Engineer works closely with the ES and ED IT&T Business partners and others in IT&T to deliver the planned system portfolio roadmap, configure and maintain related analytics and systems.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Lead development, implementation and maintenance of control, monitoring, measuring, recording and communication for solar and DER SCADA systems (SCADA software, Power Plant Controller, Modus, engineered system sensors, communications, controls, RTU, etc.). IT&T equipment to meet Grid functional performance requirements of the DER projects
2) Develop troubleshooting and maintenance procedures for Solar and DER technicians, provide field support for difficult troubleshooting situations and drive root cause analysis and mitigation for continuous improvement of solar and DER control systems.
3) Establish specification and configuration requirements for the design, construction and check out/turnover of new Solar and DER projects and ensure quality assurance thru factory acceptance and field audit of new SCADA and related systems.
4) Work with IT&T and Grid communications teams to establish communication infrastructure and interfaces to support solar and DER communication considering Emera Cybersecurity Framework, prudent standardization of Tampa Electric IT&T and operational technology (OT) infrastructure and, industry best practice.
5) Support the implementation of a fleetwide predictive monitoring program for solar and DER assets. Drive the continuous improvement and optimization in the effectiveness and cost of the monitoring plans thru replacement of time-based maintenance with predictive maintenance and the use innovative monitoring technologies.
6) Ensure the documentation and management of solar and DER data including management of design documents, computer models, equipment inventories, equipment monitoring, inspection and maintenance data and other data associated with distribution grid system Maintenance Strategy.
7) Collaboratively develop, maintain and audit compliance requirements (NERC or other), TEC standards and procedures associated with the solar and DER SCADA system assets.
8) Develop and communicate the health and risk for solar and DER control equipment and other recommendations. Support the continuous collaborative reliability management process for solar and DER control equipment.

Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
Preferred: Controls or electrical engineering degree
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: Florida Professional Engineer's License, control system certifications

Engineer I Experience
Required: Minimum of 18 months of experience as an Engineer performing work related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position;
Engineer II Experience
Required: Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Engineer performing work related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this posit
Engineer III Experience
Required: Minimum of 8 years of experience as an Engineer performing work related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
Preferred: 1.5 Years of Engineering experience specializing in SCADA/controls systems
Inductive Automation Ignition and other comparable control systems
Configuring SCADA/control system data gateways, OPC-UA, database setup, designer, security, visualization/vision, tags, alarming/notification, historical data Modbus and DNP protocols, Development of SCADA/Control system requirements and implementation associated with interconnection of DERs at transmission and distribution levels.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: The ability to effectively lead and motivate individuals to meet organization goals and personal development needs is required. Good project management skills, change management, time management skills and communication skills are required.
Preferred: Expert knowledge in modern, advanced process control technologies and experience in applications in process industries
Advanced knowledge of SCADA/control design and engineering
Working knowledge of Inductive Automation Ignition Systems.
Working knowledge of the modern distribution grid design, operation, and maintenance. In addition, this position requires the ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work in a powerplant and energy delivery environments for extended periods of time. Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime, and possible holidays.
