Responsible for the roll Disassembly/Assembly elements of the manufacturing process. This employee is in charge of ensuring that each roll is carefully disassembled & reassembled to meet the customer’s specifications.
Major Duties
- Reading and interpreting production schedules, job router cards, blueprints, non-conformance reports, and any other materials that summarize requirements for the Bearing Assembly /Disassembly process.
- Responsible for documentation of all Disassembly & Assembly Operations.
- Locating and retrieving rolls to the Assembly /Disassembly area utilizing overhead cranes and various material handling equipment.
- Responsible for creating a parts lists for all Parts required for each job, to insure parts are available at the time of re-assembly.
- Disassemble the roll using standard procedures.
- Clean all parts using the part washer when possible. This should include any housings, covers, flingers, seals, bearings, locknuts, washers, etc.
- Clean journals, headers, end plates, bolts and miscellaneous hardware as necessary.
- Inspect bearings, seals, housings, covers, lock-nuts, washers, bolts, grease, and other miscellaneous parts.
- Create an incoming inspection reports for customer service to address with the customer to ensure all required parts are ordered and arrive prior to final assembly.
- Complete the incoming inspection form that records all of the specific details regarding incoming journal inspections, bearing and parts inspection.
- Re-Assemble the roll with used and replacement parts as required. Paint per customer specification or if not specified, ask your supervisor for path forward. Install new grease fittings after painting, if applicable.
- Grease assembly as required using customer specified lubricant.
- Document all work done and final bearing take-up, sizes and other pertinent information.
o Utilize all inspection and measurement equipment per procedure and instruction, including Durometer gauges, Micrometers, Vernier diameter tapes, Dial indicators, Profilometers, temperature-indicating devices, and others as needed.
o Understands/applies basic math, including accurate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
