We are seeking an enthusiastic Scientist to join our highly collaborative Protein Testing team. You will play a critical role in the continued development of our enzyme engineering platform at Arzeda to rapidly screen and optimize enzyme functions. Using your deep knowledge of enzymology, including enzyme kinetics, protein characterization, analytical biochemistry, and high throughput Assay Development, you will contribute to impactful projects across the company.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead Assay Development projects for relevant industrial enzyme assay conditions
  • Optimize conditions for robust high-throughput enzyme assays
  • Implement miniaturized, reliable enzyme assays
  • Perform high-throughput enzyme preparation
  • Support automation and LIMS development teams to contribute to the implementation of robust and high-throughput enzyme preparation as well as data workflows.
  • Work closely with and train associate scientists and technicians to develop, optimize and perform laboratory SOPs.
  • Collaborate with upstream (e.g., Protein Design, Pathway and Strain Design, and Genetic Build-Design teams) and downstream teams (e.g., Analytics (LC/MS) and Fermentation teams) for efficient data exchange and transfer of materials

Qualifications:
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Synthetic Biology, or other related and 2+ years of experience in a post-doctoral or industry role.
  • Experience with running industrial enzyme assays and performing Assay Development activities
  • In-depth knowledge of enzymology and protein science
  • Experience using Python and/or a similar data program
  • Experience evaluating data sets, putting together reports, and presenting findings and/or results from data analysis.
  • Desire to communicate openly within a team and be receptive to feedback and learning opportunities.

Nice-to-haves (but not required):
  • Hands-on experience with automation equipment and/or high-throughput experiments
  • Experience in protein or enzyme formulation
  • Experience in analytical protein characterization

Arzeda compensation and benefits include:
  • Comprehensive compensation package, to include equity
  • Base Salary: $105,000-125,000 (may vary based on level of experience, education and geography)
