This is a two day a week position
LOCATION:
Allen Pre -School 8:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m.
Elementary - To be announced 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Secondary - Plymouth High School. 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Student hours are 8:30-11:30 and 8:00-11:00. Teachers get a 50 mins prep.
Students with Autism will be attending our Center based Extended School Year Program. Students range in age from 1st grade to 25 years old. Our students work on their IEP goals, speech and language, behavior, social and sensory skills throughout the program. The students who attend in the summer have significant academic, speech, social, sensory and behavior needs. Speech pathologist will be working with students on the Autism Spectrum. This is a two-day per week position; one day with elementary age students and one day with secondary students.
DESCRIPTION:
The Occupational Therapist will work with students with Autism that are in a center based program. Students range from severe to moderate with needs in the area of language/communications, sensory needs, behavior needs, below grade level academics, and social skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelors degree or higher with major in Occupational Therapy.
2. National certification and registration by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
3. Current Michigan Occupational Therapy license.
4. Experience with ASD population and extended needs/services
5. Experience in elementary and secondary special education.
6. Experience with developmental screening, diagnostic tests, as well as OT evaluations for students K-12.
7. The teacher must be proficient and knowledgeable in his/her area of teaching and must be able to provide a flexible, stable and pleasant teaching environment while maintaining appropriate classroom discipline.
8. The teacher should be a competent diagnostician in the area of occupational therapy and should be able to translate evaluation information into appropriate goals/objectives for students learning.
9. Appropriate medical and school experience with students at all levels.
10. The teachers should also be skilled at providing individual group, classroom, and consultative OT services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Evaluates students referred with fine/perceptual motor, sensor motor concerns impacting progress in general curriculum.
2. Participates in IEPT meetings as necessary.
3. Provides OT services as outlined in the IEP and maintain detailed service logs.
4. Consults with teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents as necessary.
5. Provides training as necessary to support carryover/generalization of skills.
6. Completes comprehensive written reports, records, and progress reports on students in a clear and meaningful manner.
7. Serves as a member of Child Study Team, Child Screening Committees, and similar groups to screen and assess students.
8. Records and submits all data relevant to the School-Based Medicaid Reimbursement program.
9. Other duties as assigned.
DATES OFEMPLOYMENT: July 1, 2024 - August 2, 2024
SALARY: Internal - Currently hourly rate or $45.00 per hour; whichever is higher.
External - $45.00 per hour Non-union position; no benefits offered

OTHER:
Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check. The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
