Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Arts Education, Performing Arts, Theater or related field supplemented by three years of experience in an art education environment or nine (9) seasonal class sessions at Fulton County Arts Centers or equivalent ARTS EDUCATION environments; may require one (1) year of experience in a lead capacity coordinating the work of co-workers; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Arts Education Coordinator for the Public Art Futures Lab in Fulton County is a key role focused on integrating technology and art within the community.
  • Responsibilities include coordinating with the artist-in-residence, developing and implementing educational programs and events, hosting workshops, and representing the Program at various events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Arts Administration, the Fine Arts including visual arts, music, dance, theater and public art; or a relevant degree in Technology or related field supplemented by one year of experience in ARTS EDUCATION, preference will be given to applicants with three years or more experience; one year of experience in a lead capacity coordinating the work of co-workers; and or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required :May require certification in instruction in area of assignment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to plan, coordinate the incorporation of arts-based subject matter into academic curricula and programming associated with connecting the arts to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, the humanities and financial subject matter. Areas of assignment may include arts integration, visual arts, music, dance, theater and ceramics.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers: confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
Design and lead professional development for artists along with educational programs for residents and school children focusing on the intersection of art and technology; develops and manages relationships with community and technology partners; manages program calendar, communications, and preparations; assists with evaluation of project related professional learning and its effectiveness based on project goals; manages digital documentation collection(s) and provides web content support; budget planning, tracking and reporting; coordinating, writing, and compiling Annual and ad hoc program reports for a variety of audiences including commissioners, arts council, grant funders in collaboration with team members within and outside of the organization; track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for internal department evaluation, strategic planning, and performance management, contribute to interdepartmental working groups.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts fine and performing arts programs including classes, workshops, camps, exhibits, and other special events; creates programs and curriculum; establishes and distributes schedules; processes participant registrations; conducts auditions; teaches classes; monitors programs and evaluates program outcomes; maintains related documentation.
Performs general customer service and administrative duties: receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding programs, policies and/or personnel; attends meetings; assists customers; answers the telephone; prepares reports and correspondence; enters computer data, etc.
Creates promotional materials to increase public awareness of and participation in fine arts programming; designs graphics; prepares news releases, flyers, brochures, etc. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies: initiates requests for and/or processes purchase orders for equipment and supplies; ensures proper use, maintenance, and storage of all equipment and supplies; initiates requests for repairs; maintains inventory records.
Develops cooperative partnerships with area schools, community organizations, and other arts organizations for the enhancement and support of fine and performing arts programming; and makes presentations to various groups as requested.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including submission forms, contracts, billing statements, class/event registrations, class schedules; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including submission forms, performance evaluations, exhibition proposals, invoices, class/event registrations, class attendance reports; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Communicates with supervisor, other employees, patrons, artists, musicians, students, vendors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
Other Requirements:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as odors, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, electric currents, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, or rude/irate customers.
