Art Teacher

JOB PURPOSE

Implement the established Art curriculum in 2D, 3D and Design thinking, through well-planned, engaging lessons and activities that facilitate active learning experiences and increase student achievement.

Support and integrate the Art curriculum core understandings and teaching protocols.

Act as an advocate and mentor, acknowledging student diversity and individual needs in one's pedagogical practice, contributing to students' academic and personal growth.

Develop and coach students in the Arts Academy to support them in their pathways. 

Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and organisational teams contributing positively to the school community and broader educational initiatives, competitions and special events.

Be ready to share expertise and support peers in interdisciplinary initiatives and problem-solving.

Demonstrate a growth mindset; be receptive to feedback, willing to experiment with innovative educational approaches, and committed to ongoing professional development.

Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages students to take intellectual risks, fosters respect for cultural diversity, and supports our vision of developing resilient, conscientious global citizens.

LEARNING AND TEACHING

  • Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the students.
  • Encourage students to ask questions and to express their difficulties.
  • Know and use various assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
  • Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive.
  • Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Identify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriately.
  • Select and plan appropriate learning and teaching activities that are in alignment with NBPS standards
  • Develop lessons that engage students in higher-order thinking personalising instruction based on student needs.
  • Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate.

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

  • Effective organisational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments
  • Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner
  • Creating an environment that fosters a growth mindset.
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual respect.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Commitment to remaining a lifelong learner focused on growth and improvement.
  • Conduct research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with: Microsoft 365 Education; Canvas learning management system, Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Mac OS
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Results-orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
