Job Summary
The Art Academy Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the Homeboy Industries Art Academy. This role involved overseeing the academy operations, fostering a creative and inclusive learning environment, building capacity, development, and implementation of programs that influence a college-going career minded pathway in creative economies. The Homeboy Art Academy Director will work closely with the Executive Director to cultivate and maintain community partnerships, in the non-profit, education, and government sectors that contributes to participants’ aspirations and augments resources available at Homeboy Industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Model designed by ED, support Lead Teaching artist in shaping Components of Art Academy.
- Lead the development of specialized pathways and resources aimed at steering individuals away from gang involvement, incorporating educational, vocational, mentorship, and supportive services.
- Implement structured engagement protocols to foster connections between at-risk individuals and community organizations committed to gang prevention efforts.
- Development and maintain system of acquiring program data for ongoing program assessment.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with local businesses, educational institutions, and relevant industries to create opportunities for at-risk individuals to pursue alternative paths.
- Promote recognition and celebration of student success and college and industry contributions.
- Work with Executive Director and the Development Team to acquire funding.
- Assess program participants professional and creative skills for project placement
Qualifications
- Demonstrated background in the role of Art Director or similar capacity.
- Experience with MS Office, Google Suites, and other project management software.
