We are looking for an Area Sales Manager for our Northwest sales territory within our Vegetable Seed business. This role will be managing a team of up to 4 people in a growing business servicing the Northwest US quadrant and Western Canada. This position is a remote role, but should be located in or near to ID, WA, or OR.
Our Area Sales Manager will:
- Ensure the Implementation of the Country Business Plan within the assigned area.
- Coach and develop the team of Account Managers and Sales Specialist in the area. Foster the sense of belonging of the sales team in the area with high level of Coordination and Collaboration in facilitating exchange of information within the sales team.
- Develop and implement successful Introduction Strategies of existing and new hybrids/varieties for the crop in the area.
- Sales planning and Sales execution in the area with key account customers, while still leading a team of up to 4 salespeople.
- Management of the crop and area short term sales forecast in the area.
- Collaborate with the Country Manager to align the actions to ensure the success of the Country Business Plan implementation.
- Review and monitor the promotional activities within assigned area with view on the budget.
- Responsible for the Accounts receivable in the area.
- Providing Marketing and Sales (M&S) reports to stakeholders – Country Manager, Regional Crop Leads, Marketing Team, etc.
- Liaising with Dept. of Agri/Hort. for Seed License/Renewal of Seed License/Varietal registration etc.
- Representing on behalf of the company in the meetings convened by the Regulatory authorities / Seed Associations and legal proceedings in the court of Law /Consumer forums/Regulatory Depts. etc.

Sales
- Plan, review, adapt and execute the annual sales plans in line with Marketing and Sales strategy of Vegetable Seeds.
- Introduce company products and services to Strategic/Key Customers in line with M&S strategy.
- Steer the Customer Team to assure a successful management and implementation of customer business plans with all related short- and long-term objectives.
- Build long-lasting trustful relationships with selected customers. Develop a thorough understanding of customers’ needs, requirements, and objectives in order to improve the customer experience. Customers can be direct or indirect customers.
People/ resourcing:
- Manage and develop the team of Account Managers and Sales Specialist by coaching them on the job and on their behavior and by executing the processes of Performance and merit reviews, Development Dialogue, point of contact (POC) input, etc.
- Manage the flow of personnel in the team in coordination with HR within designated Region.
- Ensuring the adherence of Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Compliance within the teams.
Commercial:
- Design sales plan and market development plan with sales representative for customers in the assigned regions in close coordination with the relevant stakeholders.
- The plan should be in line with the Crop strategy and country business plan and incorporates all marketing mix elements.
- Cooperate with Regional Crop Leads to design and implement successful introduction strategies for varieties, other products, and/or services in the assigned area.
- Support & coordinate with Customer marketing team towards robust implementation of customer loyalty and customer engagement programs.
- Responsible for Sales Forecasting for each crop in the area.
- Complaint Management: Execute claim handling in line with the M&S policy to handle claims in an effective and efficient way and make sure that eventually corrective actions are taken.
Logistical:
- Advise on the production plan to Country Manager and Regional Crop Lead’s for the crop in line with the M&S strategy (medium term vision) to guarantee an optimal production plan and stock level.

Education
- Bachelor degree. MBA beneficial
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in sales. Agriculture sales experience, preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong management & communication skills.
- Skills in business and marketing.
- Entrepreneurial drive and business development skills
- Agriculture knowledge, preferred
- Can speak and write in English.
- Willing to travel domestically up to 50%. Some occasional international travel.

Pay Transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $100,880 - $138,710. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
