Job description

Architectural & Campus Planner
Payette seeks a team member to grow its Space Strategies group. We are looking for an architect with a passion for planning and programming efforts leading to the design of complex science and educational facilities. The ideal candidate is a all-around design thinker and is comfortable with data analysis, visualization and graphics. The role is hybrid including both large-scale academic space/campus planning and building-level programming and lab planning. A passion for the planning and design of research and teaching spaces for science and engineering is essential.
Space Strategies is an interdisciplinary group at Payette working at the intersection of planning, programming, and design working with science and healthcare clients. It’s an exciting time at Payette - and for the architectural profession more broadly - as we integrate new methods of analysis and communication into the design process.
Position responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in planning and design projects by providing analysis and space programming solutions for scientific research and higher education clients
  • Create clear and compelling data visualizations, design drawings, diagrams and presentations
  • Contribute to the development of software tools, planning and programming techniques at Payette
Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered for the position:
  • Expertise and passion for academic and / or laboratory planning and design
  • Degree in architecture and at least 5 years of professional experience
  • Adept at client engagement and project management
  • Skilled at creating and directing the production of presentations consisting of design and analysis for leadership audiences
  • Interest in higher education and healthcare space planning and campus planning
The ideal candidate will also have:
  • Excellent presentation, writing, social and communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through
  • Ability to work confidently in a group with all levels of staff and client and also independently
  • Strong software skills such as Excel, Adobe Suite, Sketchup or Rhino, AutoCAD and Revit
  • Desire to learn data analytics programs such as PowerBI or Tableau
  • Ability to travel within the United States to client meetings
  • Desire to work in Payette’s office approximately 3-4 days per week
