Job description

We are seeking an energetic, organized leader to serve as our Aquatics Coordinator over swim lessons. The Aquatics Coordinator will organize and supervise the operations of the swim lesson program which includes creating rosters for the classes, supervising the instructors while they are teaching, providing feedback/training to the instructors, communicate with parents effectively and in a timely manner. They will assist the Aquatics Director in private lesson programing as well. The position is a part time job Monday-Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings.

The Aquatics Coordinator provides day-to-day supervision of assigned aquatic programs including scheduling of instructors to ensure coverage meets Association guidelines and standards. He/she will assist with the development, coordination, promotion and evaluation of aquatic program and activities such as swim instruction. He/she ensures high quality programs and ensures program enrollment targets are met. He/she provides assistance in the development of the daily, monthly and seasonal pool schedules. He/she maintains accurate records of staff certifications and training compliance, monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations, and conducts lifeguard, swim instructor, First Aid and CPR trainings. He/she must evaluate program effectiveness and respond to customer feedback and increase participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors. He/she will teach classes and lifeguard as necessary, will provide ongoing in-service training and safety checks for aquatic staff, will serve as on-duty supervisor on rotating schedule, and will manage statistics and record keeping as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two years of college education in a related field preferred.
  • One to three years related experience and a thorough understanding of customer service and its relationship to membership development.
  • Must be Lifeguard certified, WSLI certified, First Aid/CPR and Lifeguard Instructor certified. YMCA certifications preferred.
  • Any missing certifications must be successfully completed within the first 30 days or first course available.
  • Must have Certified Pool Operator certification or course successfully completed within the first 60 days or first available training.
  • Must have excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a diversity of people and various levels of personnel.
  • Must be supportive of the overall objectives of the YMCA and must follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
