Role Summary
The Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Manager serves to deliver impactful technical leadership to the Program Management team. The primary responsibilities include researching, recommending, and driving the implementation of improvements to products, processes, and programs. Furthermore, this position plays a crucial role in mentoring and developing Program Managers, nurturing their professional growth, and cultivating a high level of competency within the team. The aim is to foster an environment that supports continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in APQP processes and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all activities therein by meeting or exceeding the needs of our customers, both internally and externally:
- while developing product from concept to production;
- by providing tools that are safe, of sound design, and capable of manufacturing quality products according to customer requirements and the AIM Warren Tooling Manual;
- by promoting the development of new processes and techniques that improve quality, productivity and customer satisfaction;
- by supporting continuous improvement in APQP concepts; and
- by developing procedures and work instructions that support APQP and TS-16949 requirements.
- Support development of the product by effective product quality plans including control plans, FMEA’s, timing charts, open issue reports, process and product validation, flow charts and all APQP requirements.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing design and technical assistance in design reviews and presentations as well as competitive estimates for tooling and product.
- Develop methods, procedures and work instructions to successfully manage:
- competitive quoting for product and tools
- effective cost tracking and launching tools within planned costs
- launch of new product
- Must have the ability to comprehend the quoting process for new business and participate in the sign off authorization for molded, painted and assembled plastic parts.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
To perform this job successfully; an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Minimum seven years engineering management experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate job-related work experience.

Physical Demands:
This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while sitting, standing, or walking a minimum of six (6) hours a day and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be capable of performing repetitive motion for two (2) to four (4) hours a day. Ability to climb stairs is necessary. (See attached sheets for detailed physical description of this position.)
