The City of Lee's Summit is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Utility Worker and Specialist 1 in the Water Utilities Department. Placement within these positions are $25.00 and $28.00 hourly, respectively and is based upon experience. The Utility Worker is responsible for performing a variety of activities related to the installation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Similarly, the Specialist 1 position requires three years of documented experience and has a higher level of responsibility. Duties will vary, but could include, maintaining fire hydrants, exercising valves, assisting with the repair of water and sewer mains, use of heavy equipment, sewer jetting, collecting field data, and general laborer activities.Utility Worker
- One year of documented experience in water, wastewater, gas, electric or other related underground utility construction, maintenance or repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brake endorsement required within the first 18 months of employment
- Possess or obtain within 12 months a valid MUTCD flagger certification
- Possess or obtain within 12 months Competent Person Certification for trenching and shoring
- Possess or obtain within 12 months Confined Space Entry certification
- Possess or obtain within 12 months a Rigging Certification to support crane operations
- Must meet all requirements for Utility Worker
- Three years of documented experience in water, wastewater, gas, electric or other related underground utility construction, maintenance or repair.
- Possess or obtain within 12 months a Missouri Water Distribution License I, DS I
- Possess or obtain within 12 months an ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT)
Starting pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
