Position Title: Apprentice HVAC Service Technician FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Service Date: 2023
Reports to: Field Service Manager Location: Eagle, CO (and surrounding areas) Wage Range: $25-30+/hr.

Job Summary
Operates diagnoses, maintains and repairs HVAC/R systems and equipment for MTech Mechanical Services commercial/industrial clients. Also provides technical education for team members as needed.
Essential Job Function
  • Operates and diagnoses HVAC/R systems and equipment up to 100 tons cooling capacity and 10 million BTU’s heating capacity as well as boilers up to 150 HP
  • Monitors systems operation to ensure efficiency and compliance with specifications using manufacturer’s handbooks, MTech procedures and local codes
  • Responsible for client satisfaction with all clients/projects assigned; Interprets drawings and schematics and installs HVAC/R components; Test HVAC/R equipment for proper operation
  • Verifies equipment registrations per local, state and federal codes
  • Maintains and repairs HVAC/R equipment and systems
  • Plans and performs recurring maintenance and seasonal overhaul on systems and components
  • Uses drawings and schematics to analyze and isolate malfunctions
  • Troubleshoots systems using manufacturer’s handbook, MTech procedures and local codes
  • Must be familiar with State, Federal and Local codes and hold journeyman (F29 or F31) licenses for Denver and/or other local municipalities
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations of fuels, refrigerants and other hazardous materials
  • Modifies equipment for increased reliability and/or to increase efficiency
  • Repairs or replaces components
  • Complete all required paperwork (MSI & Keystyle) at the jobsite
  • Maintain safety compliance paperwork
  • Maintains shop tools, tool list and equipment
  • Helps to support construction and all other departments as needed
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle in accordance with the MTech policy and procedures manual
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 4-year apprenticeship certificate or 4 years of relevant field experience required (for Journeyman level only)
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Must be approved to drive per MTech’s driving standards
  • Highly motivated and independent self-starter
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Expertise in all aspects of HVAC service
  • Ability to work on call when needed
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Continued training is required

Work Environment
This position takes place in a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 20% of the time. The work environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are reasonable. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
