Position Summary
This position is responsible for technical support for Indexable Tools. Position responsible for applying and recommending products at the end-users and machine builders and dealers. Position responsible for conducting various types of technical seminars and trainings to keep field sales and manufacturer representatives updated with the latest technologies. This position supports a lean and safe working environment while focusing on continuous improvement, quality, and support of teamwork throughout the Company.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage outside and inside technical support and application engineering groups.
- Fifty to seventy percent of travel is required to meet customer needs and influence customers by determining the best products and application of products.
- Report test results, case study information and document cost savings achievements.
- Provide training to field sales engineers and distributors on tool applications, benefits, features and use with support from manufacturer’s representatives.
- Provide solutions on tool applications via technical expertise.
- Respond to technical related inquiries through by phone, mail, chat, and web inquiry utilizing technical expertise.
- Manning the counter of special tool design cooperating with Kyocera Corporate and Wapakoneta designers.
- Provide tooling, time study and support turn-key business services for machine tool builders, machine tool dealers and end-users.
- Organizing field test activities of developing products for product planning including new product release and product phase out cooperating with Kyocera Corporate and indexable tool production.
- Report on monthly basis all field activities including business development, ongoing testing opportunities, results of completed testing opportunities, end user training and other pertinent information regarding responsible teams.
- Report market trends in machining techniques, material applications and competitive brands information as necessary.
Marginal / Less Essential Job Functions
- Assist KSPT-G in Indexable Tools tests and demonstrations.
- Assist Marketing, Sales, Inventory Control and Customer Service teams from product development and application engineering perspective.
- Attending professional seminars and trade shows to remain abreast of R&D methodologies in the tool industry.
- Complete required trip reports, expense reports and other required documentation as directed.
- Required to learn and use CAM and related programs as needed. Will have strong interaction with tool testing associates.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from college or technical school; or seven to ten years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, and apprenticeship training as related to the fields of machine trades and/or Indexable tool manufacturing and application.
- Mechanical engineering degree a plus in addition to the above requirements.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Other Qualifications Desired
Training & Experience
- 5 or more years of tooling application knowledge
- Understanding of cutting tool design, cutting tool grades, CNC machines, inspection equipment, and ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes for indexable tool
- Extensive experience of assisting end-users on problem analysis and problem resolution
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Basic knowledge with PC, Microsoft applications and hand-held communication devices
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of customers or associates of organizations.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking, mathematical concepts including statistical reference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Travel is required as necessary.

License Required
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet requirements set by
KSPT-G insurance carrier.
Visual Acuity
Must be able to visually examine tooling samples under varying magnification and read mechanical/tool drawings, precision measuring instruments and computer screens with or without accommodation.
Hearing Ability
Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify correct grinding conditions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment utilizing personal computer, phone, and related office equipment. May sit or stand as needed. Position subject to occasional light to medium lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending. Constant use of upper extremities. Occasional reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, or other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment. Extensive travel is required.
