The Opportunity

Working under the general guidance of the Director of AAP IT Solutions, the Applications Developer and IT Operations Specialist leads the development and upkeep of software and systems deployed within the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP). The successful candidate will be responsible for application development, blockchain - application and process integration, IT operations, ensuring security compliance, and administrative reporting. This role requires leadership in planning, implementing, and maintaining software, as well as ensuring compliance with Cornell’s data security policy. Additionally, the person in this role will advise on budgeting, evaluate system performance, and prepare reports. Other responsibilities include participating in various projects and pursuing professional development opportunities.

Paramount to the success of this position is the candidate’s ability for collaboration within the team, department, college, and university. Developing strong relationships with key partners will help foster an understanding of needs and function of integral systems utilized by students, staff, and faculty here at AAP.

This position will attend college and university meetings and working groups that are aligned with its core responsibilities.

What We Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 – 5 years of experience working with front and back-end development (full stack) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to create and deploy web applications in one of the major development languages.
  • Experience with development in eUTXO based blockchains, preferably ERGO Platform
  • This position seeks a highly motivated personable individual that is familiar with interacting with many different personality types throughout their workday.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have Java/Javascript experience with the ability to create web applications from scratch and set up on local or remote hosting services.
